Victor Leslie Hicks

Most of what I know about Victor, my great grandfather, I found by reading my grandpa's life history.  He was a man who was known as a tough customer to deal with in a fight.  In true fashion, he had a bad temper and did not put up with anyone's crap.

He owned a team of draft horses that he worked all over the Central Idaho mining camps.  He would hire them out for logging or just about anything to make some money in those hard times.

He and my grandfather, Harry Hicks, ran a pack train down the Salmon River before the road was cut through to Corn Creek.  Harry would have been a teenager at the time (late 1920's).  Victor supplied the miners down the river with supplies.  If you drive down the river, you can look across and see the old trail that Victor used for packing.

Victor married Clyta Walker in 1910.  They lived in the Pahsimeroi Valley and around Salmon, Idaho most of their married lives.  They had two kids together, Mildred (Mann) and Harry.
